Gilberta Isley Morene
Gilberta Isley Morene, age 94, of Burlington went peacefully to her heavenly home April 27, 2020.
A native of Alamance County, she is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ann Jeffords (Tom); grandchild, Trey Jeffords. She is also survived by siblings Camilla Isley (Alvin), Joretta Spurlock, and Curtis Isley (Diane).
Gilberta was predeceased in death by her husband, Lee Roy Morene, and her parents, Joseph Henry and Vita Sharpe Isley; brother, Auburn Isley (Dora Lea); sister Nellie Andrews (Frank), and brother-in-law Edward Spurlock.
Gilberta was a graduate of Alexander Wilson HS. She was a charter member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Burlington where she was a devoted church secretary and choir member for many years. She was a current member of the Senior Sunday School Class. She worked for many years at Western Electric and retired from Lucent Technology. Gilberta was a very loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She touched many lives. She was a talented watercolor painter/artist, a passion that she pursued after her retirement. She loved her painting classes that she took for many years with her sister Camilla and several close friends. Gilberta dearly loved her entire family, and neighbors, as well as her
church family at St. Luke’s being especially close to the members of her Sunday School Class..
Due to COV19, Gilberta will have a private graveside service for the family on Saturday, May 2 at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church, 4178 Mt. Hermon Rock Creek Road, Graham, NC. At a later date, the family plans to have a celebration of her life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or to St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Burlington NC.
