Mr. Harvey Alexander Walker
   GREENSBORO — Mr. Harvey Alexander Walker, 84, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Alamance House in Burlington, following several years of declining health.

   Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Alamance Presbyterian Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Dr. Keith Uffman, the Rev. Carl Parsons and the Rev. David Neff will officiate.

   Mr. Walker was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Alamance County to the late JoelTeed and Mattie Clapp Walker. He graduated from Burlington High School. Harvey served his country in the United States Army, 424th Field Artillery Battalion, during the Korean War and achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. He served at Alamance Presbyterian Church as a deacon, Sunday School teacher and worked on many of their projects. He was a member of the Alamance Lions Club and Pioneers. He retired from AT&T with 37 years of service. Harvey was a man of many talents, using his skills to help others. He enjoyed trips to the mountains and beach, golfing with his wife and friends, and spending time with his family.

   He was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Huffman Walker; daughters, Patti and Donna Walker; and sister, Clara Phillips.
   Survivors are his wife, M. Lou Sharpe Walker of the home; daughter, Michele Walker Hooper and husband, Jason; granddaughter, Julia Fergus, all of Greensboro; brother, Dr. Joel Walker (Phyllis) of Graham; sisters, Linda Peele (Woody) of Greenville and Nancy Fogleman of Graham; and many nieces and nephews.

   The family will receive friends following the service Tuesday in the church Gathering Room.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215 or Alamance Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 4000 Presbyterian Road, Greensboro, NC 27406.
