Mr. Duane Rogers McMasters, age 94, of Graham, passed away on Friday, July 7, 2023 at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Randolph County, he was the son of the late Numa Randolph McMasters and the late Ina Davis McMasters and was married for 69 years to Mrs. Gladys Gayle Leonard McMasters, who survives. He was a veteran of the U.S Army and served during the Korean War. Duane was previously employed with Western Electric before retiring from the Guilford County IT Department. He was a longtime member of Carolina Christian Church along with the Mountain View Ruritan and his favorite pastimes were having meals with his family and playing hymns on his piano..
Mr. McMasters is survived by his wife of the home; two children, Randal McMasters and wife, Karen and Janice Johnson and husband, Mike; five grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie) Apple, Jennifer (Dan) Keeney, David McMasters, Catherine (James Schmidt) McMasters and Jason (Lindy) Johnson; six great grandchildren, Ella Jane, Jay and Avett Keeney, Hunter and Hensley Apple and Rachel Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Brenda Gayle McMasters; a sister, Treva Davis; and a brother, James McMasters.
The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 9, 2023 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mark Mitchell. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 2:45 PM Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carolina Christian Church c/o the Building Fund, 2030 Carolina Rd., Burlington, NC 27217.
