BURLINGTON - Velna Shoe Searcy, 95 went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. She was a native of Alamance County and the wife of the late Vernon Paul Searcy who died in 1987. She was the daughter of the late Walter Page and Olivia Alice Isley Shoe.
Velna retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery and was a homemaker. She was a charter member of Peoples Memorial Christian Church. Velna was a member of the Macy May Sunday School Class and she sang in the choir. She enjoyed taking food to shutins and cooking for her family and friends. Velna had a strong Christian faith and was a loving and devoted, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherrill Gerringer of Mebane, Barbara Ann Reed of Lakeland, Florida and Tammy Wall and husband, Ron of Mebane; son, Gary Larkin Searcy and wife, Patty of Burlington; grandchildren, Angie (Bill) Daniels, Michael (Heather) Searcy, Carrie Searcy, William “Rick” (Sherri) Gerringer, Jeremy Wall, Keith Wall and Krista (Aaron) Nance; great grandchildren, Elizabeth Daniels, Jackson Daniels, William “Richie” Gerringer, III and companion, Taylor; sister, Vernell Wright of Snow Camp; brothers, Hal Dan Shoe of Haw River and Levi (Carolyn) Riley Shoe of Snow Camp. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; grandson, Kenneth Paul Gerringer; sister, Betty Lou Lucas and brothers, Willie C. Rankin, Clifton Shoe, Loftin Shoe, Clyde Onell Shoe and Levi Riley Shoe.
A private service will be held at Sunday, September 20, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. David Grinnell. The service will be live streamed and available for viewing after 4pm on Sunday. The burial will be at Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church Cemetery. Velna will be available for public viewing from 1-5pm on Saturday.
