William  "Bill" Alexander Stanfield 


    ELON — William  "Bill" Alexander Stanfield , 83, of 2405 Gibsonville-Ossipee Road, died on Wednesday, January 16, 2008, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. He was born in Guilford County, and was the son of the late Earl O. and Berta Stallings Stanfield . Bill was married for 64 years to Dorothy "Dot" Foster Stanfield , who survives. He was a former employee of Western Electric, retired from the U.S. Post Office in Elon and was a retired farmer. Bill attended Bethlehem Christian Church and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
    He is survived by his wife, Dot Stanfield  of the home; sister, Charlotte Murphy of Corbett Ridge; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, McKnight, Robert, Andrew and Arthur Stanfield .
    The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Alamance Memorial Park by the Rev. Dave Gilbert with entombment to follow.
    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory, and at other times at the home.
    The family would like to say a special "Thank You" to ICU 2100 Nursing Staff, Dr. Taylor and the LeBauer Pulmonary Group for the special care they gave Mr. Stanfield .
