Donniece Mae Turney
LIBERTY — Donniece Mae Turney, age 80, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 at the Hospice Home. She was a native of Surry County and the wife of the late Frank J. Turney.
Donniece was a member of Kimesville Road Baptist Church where she was actively involved for many years. She was a Hospice volunteer with patient care and also active in the Hospice League helping to raise support. She was a member of the Butterfly Guild and an American Red Cross Volunteer. Donniece enjoyed serving others and it was a testimony of her abiding faith in the Lord. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Franklin Turney of McIntyre, Georgia, Ronnie Carlton Turney and his wife, Beverly of Greensboro, N.C., Steven Thomas Turney and his wife, Melissa of Stoneville, N.C., Alan Wesley Turney and his wife Hope of Albuquerque, New Mexico; 10 grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Colene Jester and her husband, Carl of Burlington, Deloria Parrott of Idaho Falls, Idaho and Juanita Wall of Graham; brothers, George Frye Jr. and his wife, Faye of Alamance, John Frye and his wife, Sandra of Candler, N.C. and Dean Frye of San Diego, California. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, George Thomas Frye Sr. and Ida Lashmit Frye; granddaughter, Tracey Turney; brothers, H. C. Frye, James E. Frye, Leroy Frye and Richard Frye.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Kimesville Road Baptist Church by the Rev. Richard Silver, the Rev. Tim McCann and the Rev. Jay Kinnett. The burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Friday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.
The Turney family would like to thank the Hospice Home for their love and care of Donniece.
