GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. Christine Wood Helms, age 90, of 306 Oakhurst St., passed away Saturday March 22, 2008 at her home.
A native of Lincoln County, she was the wife of the late William H. Helms and the daughter of the late Daniel Clyde and Ruth Styers Wood. She was a member of Gibsonville Christian Church and a homemaker.
Mrs. Helms in survived by her daughter, Libby Sharpe of Gibsonville; sons, Sam Helms and wife Lucille of Burlington, Jake Helms and wife Imogene of Gibsonville, Henry Helms and wife Trudy of Lincolnton and Tyson Helms and wife Vonda of Graham; brother, Dean Wood and wife Mary of Gastonia; sisters Nell Johnson of Franklin, IN and Isabel Brown of Lincolnton; 17 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Janice Muturo; grandson, Curtis Helms; and brother Jim Wood.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Mark Ryman. Interment will follow in Gibsonville City Cemetery. Mrs. Helms will remain at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory through the funeral service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 PM Sunday and at other times, the residence.
