Ruby Summers Huffines BURLINGTON — Mrs. Ruby Summers Huffi nes, 92, of Liberty Commons and formerly of Forest Drive, died at the Hospice Home on Friday, Oct. 11, 2013, at 3:45 a.m.
A native of Guilford County, she was the wife of the late Alvin Walker Huffi nes and the daughter of Joseph Herman Summers and Lydia Catherine Shepherd Summers, both deceased. She retired from Kayser-Roth and was a member of Life’s Journey United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Powell and husband Wayne of Fayetteville; son, Larry Huffi nes and wife Brenda of Burlington; seven grandchildren, David Allen Huffi nes, Jason Michael Huffi nes, Amy Nicole Huffi nes, Dorothy Powell, Alvin Powell, Steven Powell and Sammy Powell; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mae Lewis of Burlington.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Christine Summers; three brothers, Willie Summers, Jack Summers and George Summers; and a grandson, Allen Powell.
The funeral service will be conducted in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. with the family receiving friends from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
