Obituary Online notes for Nellie Mae COOKE
Mrs. Nellie Cooke Massey, 93, of Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 11:24 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late Calvin Wesley Massey and the daughter of Lawrence Lee Cooke and Dolly Russell Cooke, both deceased. Nellie was retired from Arydine Hosiery and was a member of Belmont Baptist Church.
Mrs. Massey is survived by a daughter, Shirlene Garner and her husband, Larry of Burlington and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Belinda Gayle Massey; seven sisters, Doris C. Hogan, Mattie Belle Stout, Annie Shephard, Peggy Cauthren, Louise Isley, Mary Lois Murray and Patty Parrish; and four brothers, Dwight L. Cook, Kermit R. Cook, Hurley F. Cooke and R. Lynn Cooke.
The funeral service will be conducted at Belmont Baptist Church on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. by Rev. Larry Janey. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Mrs. Massey's family would like to extend a special thanks to the ARMC Emergency Department doctors and nurses and also to the nursing staff of Station 1C.
