Doris Jeffreys Cooper Allen

Doris Jeffreys Cooper Allen, 97, of Burlington and most recently of Rockingham passed away on Monday, October 2nd at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10th, 2017 at First Christian United Church of Christ in Burlington. The service will be lead by Rev. Mark Pickett and Dr. Jim Nelson. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
She was born April 3, 1920 in Alamance County, the daughter of Claude and Annie Jeffreys.
After graduating from cosmetology school in Chicago, IL she returned to Burlington to work in her aunt’s hair salon. She went to build her own successful hair salon with Flossie Bateman. Many of her clients became close friends.
She was an active member of First Christian United Church of Christ where she served on numerous boards and committees. Also, she was active in the community where she enjoyed golf and being a member of the Ladies Golf Association.
Mrs. Allen was a dedicated member of the Burlington Woman’s Club, volunteering many hours in various service projects.
Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Cooper, Jr., second husband Harvey Allen, her parents, brothers, Jennings and Norman Jeffreys, and stepmother Ruth Jeffreys.
Mrs. Allen was an everpresent loving, caring mother and grandmother.
Surviving are two daughters, Jan Cooper Smith and husband Dickey of Rockingham, Carole Cooper Johnson of Burlington, special friend Mik Craig of Greensboro, devoted brother Arnold “Jeff” Jeffreys and wife Carol of Greensboro, grandchildren, Kelly Smith Avant and husband Chris, Scott Smith and wife Kacy, Trey McPherson, Caroline Smith and Will Webb. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Emma McPherson and Connor Smith.
