Ruby Lee Webster Rudd

BURLINGTON - Ruby Lee Webster Rudd, 98, passed away Saturday at Twin Lakes Coble Creek Healthcare in Burlington. She was surrounded by her family and caregivers, who loved her so dearly.
She was the daughter of the late James Carey Webster and Elizabeth Lenor Moore Webster. Ruby enjoyed her life as a homemaker and wife of 66 years to her beloved husband, the late Harvey Franklin “Bud” Rudd.

She will be remembered for her unconditional love, her sweet smile, her gentle nature, and her welcoming heart. Ruby adored her family and all children, providing a safe haven for them throughout her life – her own family members, numerous neighborhood kids, and any child in need of love and understanding. She had amazing cake baking skills, she loved “her” country music, ice cream and the color purple. She was an extraordinary woman whose optimistic outlook and positivity uplifted everyone who knew her. The smiles, giggles, and “Hey, Sweetie” of her last four years at Twin Lakes were a gift to all.

Ruby is survived by two sons, Donald Rudd and wife, Christine, of Stuart, VA and Glen Rudd and wife, Cathy, of Burlington, two daughters, Cathy “Cat” Rudd and husband, Jerry Allsbrook, of Raleigh, and Wendy Rudd and husband, Billy Gammons, of Stuart, VA.

Ruby was “Mimi” to eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Helen Moss of Thomasville and Nancy Wrenn of Burlington, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Ida Cheek, and brother, Clyde Webster, and best friend, Lucille Spoon.

The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers who so lovingly attended to Ruby over the years – Peggy, Brenda, and Norma in the home and for the last four years, all the nurses, CNAs, and staff at Twin Lakes. Their devotion and tenderness enriched her life.

The family invites you to celebrate Ruby’s life with visitation at Rich and Thompson in Burlington Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 12:30 p.m. - 2 p.m. with graveside service at 2:30 p.m. at Alamance Memorial Park. Officiated by Rev. Rick Wilkerson.

Flowers are accepted or memorial contributions can be made to Twin Lakes Community Auxiliary, 3701 Wade Coble Drive, Burlington, NC, 27215.
