Rev. Robert Joseph Rudd
ROCKINGHAM, N.C. — The Rev. Robert Joseph Rudd, age 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 21, 2009.
Born in Burlington, N.C., he was the son of the late Willie Russell and SallyWilson Rudd.
He was a graduate of Burlington High School and received his BA degree from Asbury College and his Master of Theology from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky.
He was a retired United Methodist minister and during 44 years of service pastored many churches in Kentucky, Ohio, Georgia and North Carolina. He led many camp meetings and revivals and was active in the mission field in trips to Haiti and Brazil. He remained faithful to God’s calling and led many souls to the Lord. He was an honorary Kentucky Colonel and loving father and grandfather.
He is survived by his daughters, Mary Mabe of Rockingham and Margaret Williams of Whiteville, Ohio; one son, Jon Rudd of Chester, Va.; brother, William Rudd and his wife Dorothy, of Clinton, N.C.; sisters, Betty Belcher and her husband Charles of Haw River, N.C. and Mary Sykes and her husband Arnette of Graham, N.C.; grandchildren, Erik Williams, KatyWilliams, Elizabeth Rudd, Drew Parsons, Matthew Parsons and Rebekah Mabe.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25, 2009 at 10 a.m. at Pee Dee United Methodist Church in Rockingham with the burial at 3 p.m. at Alamance Memorial Park in Burlington, N.C. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, July 24, 2009, at Harrington Funeral Home in Hamlet.
