Nannie Lou Blackard

BURLINGTON - Mrs. Nannie Lou Blackard, 92, of Burlington passed away Friday, February 5th, 2021, at Brookdale Memory Care in Burlington. Nannie was born in Caswell County to James Weldon Blalock and Mary Hasseltine Blalock, both deceased. Nannie kept her faith as a Primitive Baptist, attending to and serving her church community for many years. Nannie spent most of her working years as a hairdresser, spending countless hours at the shop to help support her family. Nannie enjoyed many things in life such as making different ceramics and crafts, she also enjoyed bowling, watching the Tar Heels or Braves play and had a love for volunteering for Hospice. All of these things meant a lot to Nannie, but none surpassed the love she had in her heart for her family.
Nannie is survived by her son Barry Blackard, grandsons, Brian Blackard, Jonathan Blackard and his wife Ashlee, and four great-grandchildren, Landon, Ava, Paxton, and Porter.

In addition to her parents, Nannie was preceded in death by a son, Sherwood Blackard, a daughter, Vivian Kay Blackard, and her siblings, George Franklin Blalock, Joe Blalock, William Blalock, Sallie Aldridge, Lizzie Prichett, Francis King, Margaret King, Allie Clayton, Bessie Blalock, and James Blalock.
A visitation will be held for the family to receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 3pm-5pm at the McClure Funeral Home in Graham. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at 2pm at Pine Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to associates at Brookdale Memory Care and the Hospice Home who helped care for and love Nannie over the past few years.
