Norman Ray Lucas
   BURLINGTON — Mr. Norman Ray Lucas, 82, of 824 Central Ave., and formerly of Bogue Forest Drive, Newport, N.C., died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Saturday, Sept. 3, 2011, at 5:40 a.m.

   A native of Alamance County, he was the loving husband of 62 years to Ruth Porter Lucas, who survives, and the son of Fred Edward Lucas and Swannie Rudd Lucas Foster, both deceased. He retired from Western Electric.

   In addition to his wife of their home, survivors include four daughters, Carole L. Billings and husband, Harold, of Graham, Rebecca L. Germino, of Elon, Tania L. Lucas, of Burlington, and Brittany A. Lewis, of Newport; his son, Norman Ray Lucas II, of Burlington; a sister, Erma Lucas Brown and husband, Utah, of Julian; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene A. Lucas and Edward P. Lucas.

   A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Alamance Memorial Park.

   The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Tuesday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. before the service.

   Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
