Pearl Oakley Miles
ALAMANCE — Mrs. Pearl Oakley Miles, 98, of 4368 N.C. 62 South, Alamance, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at the Hospice Home in Burlington following several weeks of critical illness.
A native of Caswell County, she was wife of the late Charlie Abner Miles and daughter of the late William Franklin Oakley and Minnie Estelle Tate Oakley. Mrs. Miles was retired from Sellars Department Store, a member of the First Christian United Church of Christ and a member of the Lila B. Sellars Sunday School Class.
Surviving are a son, Robert F. Miles and wife Jan of Alamance and a granddaughter, Sara Thynne and husband Will of Burlington. Mrs. Miles was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Bett Nicks and Leona O. Miles and two brothers, Johnny A. Oakley and William Henry Oakley Sr.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 19, at the First Christian United Church of Christ with the Rev. Mark Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at the church from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m., prior to the service and other times at the residence of Robert and Jan Miles, 2831 Birch Lane, Alamance.
