Margarette Virginia Oakley Day was born on November 14, 1922 in Greensboro, North Carolina to William Lindon and Maggie Virginia (King) Oakley.

She graduated from Elon College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Education.

Virginia married Edward “Beezer” Day on September 10, 1945.

Virginia worked in the Special Education Department of the Brownwood Independent School District for a number of years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and attended the Priscilla Sunday School Class. Virginia enjoyed traveling with her husband and sister.

Virginia is survived by her husband of sixty-nine years, Edward “Beezer” Day of Brownwood, two daughters, Robin Nance and husband Jim, Cheryl Kirby and husband Wayne Parish, and a son, Alan Day and wife Janene; nine grandchildren, Stacey McKee, Christian Nance, Scott Kirby, Lance Kirby, Amber Gibbs, Matt Kirby, Autumn Miller, Justin Kirby, and Brendan Day and twenty-five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Mary Thompson, and a brother, Bill Oakley.

Virginia passed from this life on Sunday, January 18, 2015 in Brownwood, at age 92.
