Mr. Lindsey Solomon Massey
BURLINGTON — Mr. Lindsey Solomon Massey , 94, of Burlington, died at Alamance Healthcare Center on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at 4:25 p.m. after three years of failing health and two days critical illness.
A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Mary Anna Massey , and the son of John Henry Massey and Rose Ann Massey , both deceased. He was retired from Copland Fabrics and farming.
Survivors include three sons, Mr. J. Ervin Massey (Peggy) of China Grove, Mr. Ronald L. Massey Sr. (B.J.) of Graham, and Mr. Richard W. Massey (Margaret) of Elon; five daughters, Mrs. Lois Hall (Joe), Mrs. Patricia "Pat" Madren (Clyde), Mrs. Percilla Shepherd (Don), Mrs. Glenda Saunders (Bobby), and Mrs. Sandra Myers (William "Billy"), all of Burlington; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Susan Coleman (Phillip) of Leasburg, Mrs. Vickie Whitlow (Ted) of Virginia Beach, Virginia and Mrs. Pam Schultz (Chris) of South Carolina; two stepsons, Mr. Bobby Thurman of Winston-Salem and Mr. Tracy "Junior" Thurman (Pam) of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 14 great-stepgrandchildren; and one greatgreat-stepgrandchild.
Mr. Massey was preceded in death by 10 sisters and brothers.
The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. by the Rev. E. Darrell Massey , and the Rev. Richard L. Myers, grandsons. Burial will follow the service in Leasburg United Methodist Church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. today, and at other times they will be at the home of a daughter, Percilla Shepherd, 3530 Mine Creek Road, Burlington, N.C.
Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice and Alamance Health Care Center for the special care and kindness shown to Mr. Massey .
