Claudia Simmons Clayton
YANCEYVILLE — Mrs. Claudia Simmons Clayton, 86, of 1850 Rudd Ridge Road, passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, following three months of failing health.
A native of Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late Porter Gold and Minnie Terrell Simmons and the wife of the late Thomas Lee Clayton. She was a member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Yanceyville since 1971.
Survivors include her daughters, Becky Aragon and husband Claudio of Ruffin and Debbie Coppersmith and husband Philip of Yanceyville; sons, Barry Clayton and wife Mary of Burlington, Rickey Clayton and wife Dianne of Norfolk, Va., Sammy Clayton and wife Bobbie of Graham and Michael Clayton and wife Pami of Madison; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one greatgreat-grandchild; sisters, Mildred Davis of Asheboro, Leona Mise of Leasburg and Elsie Overman of Burlington; brothers, Jimmy Simmons and wife Cheryl, Clifton Simmons and Gilbert Simmons and wife Ann, all of the Anderson Community.
She was preceded
in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Dorothy Herndon and Alice Harrison; and brother, Billy Simmons.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Blanch by Elder Jim White. The family will receive friends following the service in Kingdom Hall.
