Alice Elizabeth Simmons Stokes Harrison

   BURLINGTON, N.C. — Alice Elizabeth Simmons Stokes Harrison, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Hospice Home.

   She was a native of Caswell County and the daughter of the late Porter Gold and Minnie Alice Terrell Simmons.

   Alice retired after 30 years with Burlington Industries, Williamsburg plant. She was a member of Trinity Missionary Baptist Church where she served as WMU Director for many years along with other capacities within the church.

   Survivors include her brothers, Gilbert Michael Simmons and his wife Ann, Jimmy Simmons and his wife Cheryl, and Johnny Simmons and his wife Jewel, all of Burlington; sisters, Elsie Overman of Burlington, Leona Mise of Leasburg, Mildred Davis of Asheboro and Claudia Clayton and her husband Thomas, of Yanceyville; sister-in-law, Louise Simmons of Burlington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond H. Stokes, and her former husband, Kerney Harrison; parents; brother, Billy Houston Simmons; and a sister, Dorothy Sue Herndon.

   The funeral service will be conducted on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church by the Rev. Gaylord Dix and the burial will follow at Kerr’s Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.

   The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times at the home.

   Memorials may be made to Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 329, Reidsville, N.C. 27320 and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
