Arlene Clayton Massey


Mrs. Arlene Clayton Massey, 91, of Burlington, died Saturday, July 13, 2019 at the Presbyterian Home of Hawfields.
A native of Caswell County, Mrs. Massey was the wife of the late Willie Fletcher Massey and the daughter of the late Wiley Van Clayton and the late Lessie Rudd Clayton.

Mrs. Massey was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School, Class of 1945. She retired from the Quality Control department of Goldtoe Brand.
Mrs. Massey was formerly a member of Lakeview Community Church. She served as a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the Women’s Fellowship.
Mrs. Massey is survived by her daughter, Wanda York and her husband, Ronald, of Hillsborough, two sons, Steve Massey and his wife, Betty, of Mt. Ulla, NC, Greg Massey and his wife, Caroline, of Mebane; nine grandchildren, Randall York and his wife, Britt, Casey Nunnery and her husband, Jason, Erin York, Ashlyn Corley and her husband, Jeff, Brad Massey, Evan Massey and his wife, Daniela, Landon Massey, Joel Massey and his wife, Dana, and Jason Massey; five great-grandchildren, Owen Corley, Parker Corley, Hank Nunnery, Everett Massey and Adeline Massey; one sister, Catherine Hamlett and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Lizzie Truitt, Doris Travis, Mamie Hinkle, Lena Byrd, Alma McKinney and Shirley Wilkins; and four brothers, James Clayton, Thomas Clayton, Wilbur Clayton and Willie Samuel Clayton.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, July 16, 2019, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, at St. Lukes United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
The funeral service will follow at 2:00, with the Rev. Tommy Prevette officiating. Burial will follow in Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
