Mrs. Catherine (Clayton) Hamlett, 88, of Yanceyville died peacefully Friday, February 17, 2023 at the AuthoraCare Hospice Home after a brief illness.
She was born in Person County and spent most of her life in Caswell County. Mrs. Hamlett was the wife of the late William Allen Hamlett and the daughter of the late Wiley Van Clayton and the late Lessie Rudd Clayton.
Mrs. Hamlett was a graduate of Bartlett Yancey High School. She retired from Lawrence Hose, Haw River.
Mrs. Hamlett was a devoted daughter, mother, wife, sister, sister-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to all in her life. She lived out her Christian faith in the Lord. She loved working in her yard, her plants and gardening, cooking, baking, and spending time with her sister (best friend), Shirley.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by great-grandson, Jacob Rice, son-in-law, Daryl Rice, daughter-in-law, Tina Hamlett, son, Daniel (Danny) Hamlett and daughter, Kathy Nicholson. Also, sisters, brothers and in laws: Lizzie Truitt (Harvey), Doris Travis (William), Mamie Hinkle (Curtis), Lena Byrd (Richard), Alma McKinney (William), Shirley Wilkins (Andrew), Arlene Massey (Wille), James Clayton (Louise), Thomas Clayton (Claudie), Wilbur Clayton and Willie Samuel Clayton.
Mrs. Hamlett is survived by son David Hamlett (of the home), daughter, Connie Rice (Scotty), daughter, Laurie Solomon (Darrell); grandchildren Tanya Wilson (Nik), Josh Nicholson (Monica), Jeremy Nicholson (Megan), Nick Rice (Jessi), Houston Rice, Ashley Fazzino (Steven), Danielle Hamlett, Katherine Douglas, Kristie Maynard (Luis), Chad Solomon (Summer); great-grandchildren, Harper and Charlotte Wilson, Gavin and Sheala Nicholson, Nora and Ella Nicholson, Katie and Maddie Rice, Noah Solomon, William, Jacob and Korah Douglas, Elaynah, Daniel and Benjamin Guzman, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life with Pastor Steve McGowan officiating will take place Saturday, February 25, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Griers Presbyterian Church, 569 Griers Church Road, Leasburg, NC 27291. Visitation will follow the service.
