George “Earl” Dabbs
BURLINGTON — Mr. George “Earl” Dabbs, 95, died at Select Specialty Hospital at Moses Cone on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at 10:26 p.m.
Earl was born in Caswell County where he was raised on a farm. After attending Bartlett Yancey High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Later, he retired as parts manager from Central Chrysler Plymouth in Burlington.
Mr. Dabbs was the husband of 56 years to the late Ethel Mae Rudd Dabbs and the son of Obed M. Dabbs Sr. and Nellie Oakley Dabbs, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by two infant sons and four brothers, Lawrence Dabbs, Pete Dabbs, Leo Dabbs and O.M. Dabbs, Jr.
Earl is survived by several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2016, at 2 p.m. by Elder David Underwood with the family receiving friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. At other times, the family will be at the home of Joe and Jean Walker, 5657 Kerr Chapel Road, Elon, NC.
