Annie Smith Shelton Harrelson was born in Caswell County, NC in the family home at 1960 Allison Road, Pelham to Anna Elizabeth Hodges and Onza Jones Smith. She was the spouse of Clem Bryant Shelton and Henry Harvey Harrelson; the mother of Clem Bryant Shelton, Jr., Delores Shelton Dameron, Carol Shelton Lambert and Jerry L. Shelton; grandmother of Herbert L. McDowell, III, Robert Scott McDowell, John Gilbert McDowell, Anne Dameron Clark, Clem Bryant Shelton III, Hannah Rebecca Shelton, Emily S. Pruitt and Julie L. Cook and sister of Helen Elizabeth Smith Vaughn, Thomas Malloy Smith and Carlton Wayne Smith. At the time of her death she was the great-grandmother of eleven children.
