Myna  Lee Gaydon Hammack 


    BURLINGTON — Myna  Lee Gaydon Hammack , 88, formerly of Elwood Street, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, July 4, 2007, at Alamance Healthcare Center after several years of failing health.

    A native of Lumpkin County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William Messer Gaydon and the late Frances Bell Burke Gaydon.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband, C. Shelton Hammack , who died in 1984; a sister, Ola Mae Gaydon; and three brothers, Millard L. Gaydon, Dillard E. Gaydon and Joe B. Gaydon.

She was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and was formerly employed with Western Electric and Burlington Industries.

    Mrs. Hammack  is survived by a sister, Claire G. Farrell of Burlington; four nieces, Debra F. Cardwell and her husband, Randy, of Burlington, Betty G. Davis of Graham, Mildred Clark and her husband, Willard, of Burlington and Etheleen Womack of Burlington; four nephews, Jerry L. Farrell of Julian, Rodney Farrell and his wife, Glenda, of Elon, Bob Gaydon and his wife, Lana, of Greensboro and Clarence Lee Gaydon of South Carolina; and numerous great nieces and great nephews and their children. She is also mourned by her dear and lifetime friends, Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Byrd and family of Burlington.

    The funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Bob Stephenson. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3:45 Saturday afternoon, prior to the service and other times at the home of her sister, Claire Farrell, 615 Queen Ann St., Burlington.

    The family would like to thank the staff of Alamance Healthcare Center for their care and friendship of our beloved aunt and sister, Myna  Lee.
