ELON — Mrs. Eleanor Arnold Shaw, age 82, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Alamance Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
Born in Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin and Magdaline Bowes Arnold and was the wife of the late Marvin W. Shaw.
Eleanor was a homemaker and a member of Camp Springs United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was loved by all of her family and friends.
Survivors include her daughters, Brenda Swift (Ronald) of Reidsville and Sylvia Crumpton (James) of Burlington; grandchildren, Peter Grant (Jason Clemmons), Tammy Cline (Randall) and Ashley Schronce (Josh); greatgrandchildren, James Cline and Justin Cline; a brother, Oscar Arnold (Louise) and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; a brother, Jim Arnold; sisters, Edna Ward, Ora Campbell, Estelle Arnold, Ann Long, Elizabeth Riddle, Ezelle Cross, Beulah Woodell and Clara Faulkner.
The funeral service will be held 2 p.m.Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. David Underwood with the burial to follow at Camp Springs U.M.C cemetery. There will be no visitation; however, the family will receive friends at James and Sylvia’s residence.
