Violet Oakley Walters BURLINGTON — Violet Oakley Walters, 83, formerly of North Avenue, passed away Monday, Nov. 2, 2015, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
She was a native of Burlington and was the daughter of the late Thomas Fountain Oakley and the late Callie Mae Hylton Oakley.
She retired from Western Electric after 38 years of service and she was a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church and the Mildred Overman Sunday School Class. She really enjoyed attending CWA Pioneer Luncheons with her co-workers and playing Bingo at Edgewood Baptist Church in Mebane.
She is survived by her son, Gary (Lynn) Walters of Mebane; and grandchildren, Lance Aaron Walters and Callie Elisha Walters.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Debbie Norris; parents; three sisters, Evelyn Jones, Ivadell Richmond and Maureen Tate; and a brother, Thomas Edgar Oakley.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Glen Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Bob Stephenson with interment to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
