William  Henry Brooks 


    MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — William  Henry Brooks , age 78, of Havens Drive went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2006, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was a native of Alamance County and the husband of 58 years to Alice Massey Brooks  who survives.
    William  retired from Universal Leaf in Richmond, Virginia as a field manager. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Myrtle Beach, S.C. William  was also active in the Civitans for many years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.
    Survivors include his wife, Alice Massey Brooks  of the home; daughters and sons-inlaw, Lynette Lenard of Florida, Billie Brooks  Kissel and her husband, Wolfgang of Morlenbach, Germany, Carolyn Brooks  Winfrey and her husband, David of Durham, NC; grandchildren, Jeffrey Lenard, Michael Kissel, Daniel Kissel and Joseph Winfrey; step grandchildren, Sawyer Winfrey and Kennedy Winfrey; sister and brother-in-law; Lois and Tommy Moore of Elon, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents, William  Anderson and Maggie Taylor Brooks ; brother, Ralph Eugene Brooks  and a sister, Myrtle Phillips and step grandson, Daniel Scott Winfrey.
    A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Pine Hill Cemetery by the Rev. Steve Brown. The family will receive friends at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the graveside service and other times at the home of his sister, Lois Moore, 3345 Stoney Creek Church Road, Elon, N.C. 27244.
