James William "Cutie" Tate


    ANDERSON — Mr. James William"Cutie" Tate, 88, of 246 Union Ridge Road, Anderson died at the Hospice Home in Burlington on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 following a brief illness.
    A native of Caswell County, he was the husband of the late Martha Somers Tate and the son of Robert Lee Tate and Rosa Terrell Tate, both deceased. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a lifelong farmer in the Anderson community. He was a member of Concord Christian Church.
    Survivors include two daughters, Diane Tate Gregory and husband Dexter and Janice Tate Sadler, all of Yanceyville; one son, James Robert Tate and wife Michele, of Anderson; eight grandchildren, Patrice McCollum, Brian Gregory, Christy Sadler, Tripp Sadler, Sam Sadler, Michael Tate, William Tate and Allison Tate; and two sisters, Alice Baker and Nellie Durham, both of Burlington.
    He was preceded in death by three brothers, Emmitt Tate, Fletcher Tate and Claude Tate; three sisters, Florence Reagan, Esther Madren and Bessie Paschall; and an infant sister.
    The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Marvin Simpson. Burial will follow the service at Concord Christian Church cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. At other times they will be at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.
