OBITUARIES Mr. Garland Lee Barker 
    Mr. Garland Lee Barker , 76, has been called to God after a lengthy illness with congestive heart failure.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Summerfield. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
    Garland  was a graduate of Reidsville High School, Presbyterian Junior College, and Catawba College. He served two years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He then entered into a 36-year career with AT&T. Garland  was a member of the North West Gideons and was a former charter member of the Four Season’s Civitan Club. Garland  was also a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Summerfield, serving as Deacon and a Sunday School Teacher.
    Garland  is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geneva Vernon Barker  of the home; one son, Gregory Lee Barker  and wife Ellen; two precious granddaughters, Kasey and Kaitlin Barker  of Randleman; and one sister, Betty B. Dyer of Graham. Garland  was preceded in death by his parents, Byrd M. Barker  and Mary Lea Garrison Barker .
    The family will receive friends tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at Forbis and Dick Guilford Chapel.
