Lucille Ingold Payne, age 96, of McLeansville, passed away Thursday December 15, 2022.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday December 20, 2022, at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. After the family greets friends, the interment will be in the church cemetery.
Lucille Payne was born November 4, 1926, in Greensboro to the late Earlie and Irene Ingold. She was a faithful member of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and was involved in many of the church's activities. In 1958, Mrs. Payne, along with her husband, founded Wade's Oil Company which they owned and operated. Lucille loved to bowl, travel, and loved country music. Most of all, Lucille was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is survived by her children James W. Payne (Dale McCanless), Thomas E. Payne (Toni), Susan Payne Adams (Chip), and Jeffery L. Payne (Susan), brother Robert "Bobby" Ingold (Linda), eleven grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Wade Payne, son Michael Lee Payne, and sister Martha Pickard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church at 5120 Burlington Rd, Greensboro, NC 27405, or Apple's Chapel Christian Church at 7345 NC 61 N, Gibsonville, NC 27249.470, Lucille Ingold Payne
