Agnes Loy Newman-Rudd
Mrs. Agnes Loy Newman-Rudd, 95, formerly of Country Club Drive, Burlington, and a resident of the Well-Spring Retirement Community in Greensboro, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014.
A native of Alamance County, Mrs. Newman-Rudd was the wife of the late Norwood C. Newman and the late Clyde Rudd Sr. She was the daughter of the late Samuel J. Loy and the late Gelia Sharpe Loy.
Mrs. Newman-Rudd was a longtime member of Front Street United Methodist Church in Burlington.
Survivors include two sons, Samuel Newman and his wife, Jody, of Sunset Beach and Don Newman and his wife, Lynda, of Chapel Hill; two grandchildren, Rebecca Newman Robinson and her husband, John, and Worth Newman; one greatgrandchild, Natalie Anne Robinson and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her two husbands and parents, Mrs. Newman-Rudd was preceded in death by four sisters, Alice Kernodle, Eunice McPherson, Hilda Euliss and Elizabeth Tatum and three brothers, Edgar Loy, Frank Loy and Bob Loy.
A funeral service will be held Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Front Street United Methodist Church, 136 S. Fisher Street, Burlington. The Rev. Ray Wittman will officiate. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Alamance Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends in the Heritage Center at Front Street Church for one hour prior to the service.
