Frank D. “F.D.” Stewart

BURLINGTON — Mr. Frank D. “F.D.” Stewart, 81, formerly of Spence Street and Trail One, Burlington and a resident of Alamance Health Care Center, passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Sunday, August 30, 2015, at 8:20 p.m. He is now walking with his Lord and Savior.

A native of Alamance County, he was the husband of Bessie Mae Roberts Stewart, who survives and the son of Elton Lee Stewart and Gladys P. Edmonds Stewart, both deceased. He was a retired locksmith and formerly owned and operated Stewart’s Locksmith. F. D. was a life member of the N. C. Locksmith Association and a former member of the Alamance REACT and Burlington Optimist Club. He was a member of Front Street Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon.

F. D. lived a life filled with love for his church, family and friends even though Post Polio Syndrome limited his abilities for nearly half of his life. After retiring from his favorite “job as a locksmith” and coaching Little League Baseball, volunteering and teaching several fun activities especially card playing at the Senior Center, he became such an inspiration for trying not to show his pain. He tried to hide his pain in his love of spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons, James Phillip Stewart and wife Kathy of Mebane, Jerry Douglas Stewart and wife Brenda of Elon and John Franklin Stewart and wife Michelle of Burlington; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; and one brother, James Herman Stewart and wife Martha of Gastonia.

He was preceded in death by a grandchild, Sonya Baisden.

The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Dr. Dace Lewis with the family receiving friends from 12:30 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Other times they will be at the home of John and Michelle Stewart, 608 Trail 2, Burlington, NC.

Memorials may be made to Front Street Christian Church, 609 Atwater Street, Burlington, NC 27215 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
