Amelia Kathleen Brown Boone
   BURLINGTON—Mrs.Amelia Kathleen Brown Boone, 95, formerly of Rolling Road, Burlington, passed away on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at the Homeplace of Burlington.

   A native of Efland, she was the wife of the late Robert Edward Boone Sr. and the daughter of Julian Jackson Brown and Amelia Pearl Gordon Brown, both deceased.

   She was a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Mrs. Brown retired as Executive Secretary at the Life of Virginia and was Vice-President of R.E. Boone Laundry and Dry Cleaners. ShelovedtoplayBridge,dance and play the piano. Her joy was entertaining friends and family and delighting them with her culinary skills. Kathleen was a very active member of Front Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fannie Larkin Sunday School Class.

   Survivors include her stepchildren, Sandra Gray of Roxboro, Robert Boone Jr. of College Park, Md., and Kathryn Carroll and Georgia Wofford and husband Paul, all of Burlington; five step-grandchildren, Sean Gray and wife Stephanie of Roxboro, Robert Gray and wife Allison of New York, N.Y., Jon Carroll and wife Brenda of Alpharetta, Ga., Cindy Novak and husband Bill of Burlington and Oakley Boone of Maryland; eight great-stepgrandchildren;

   and special cousins, Gordon Brown of Efland and Gordon Cole of Greensboro.

   She was preceded in death by a stepchild, Barbara Hall; and a brother, Hershel Gordon Brown.

   A graveside service will be conducted at Pine Hill Cemetery on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Marshall Old.

   Memorials may be made to Front Street United Methodist Church Music Fund, 136 South Fisher Street, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to Efland United Methodist Church, 3100 US 70 West, Efland, N.C. 27243 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215.

   The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Homeplace of Burlington and Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for the loving, gentle comfort and respect they provided for our sweet “Casy” on her journey home.
