James Douglas  "Doug" Gray 


    ROXBORO — James Douglas  "Doug" Gray , 69, of 410 Westover Drive, died Thursday, January 4, 2007, at Person Memorial Hospital.
    Born in Richmond County, Mr. Gray  was the son of the late John James  and Ellen Boyle Gray . Mr. Gray  retired as principal of Northern Junior High School from 1969-1988. He later retired as director of curriculum at the North Carolina School of Math and Science from 1990-1999. He was a former member of the Roxboro Rotary Club. Mr. Gray  was a member of Long Memorial United Methodist Church, where he taught Sunday school and was a member of the Methodist Men. Mr. Gray  was also a former director of the Rocket Club.
    Mr. Gray  is survived by his wife, Sandra Boone Gray ; two sons, Sean Gray  and wife, Stephanie, of Roxboro and Robert Gray  and wife, Allison, of New York, N.Y.; one sister, Jeanne Aenchbacher, of Jacksonville, Fla.; two grandchildren, Christopher Michael Gray  and Ella Douglas Gray .
    A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Long Memorial United Methodist Church by the Rev. T.R. Miller. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 this evening at the Brooks & White Funeral Home.
