    PROSPECT HILL, N.C. — Ms. Alice Sparks Leigh Turner, 98, passed away Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012 at Alamance Healthcare. She was formerly of the Prospect Hill Community for 30 years. She was born in Pittsylvania County, Va. to the late John Thomas Sparks and Sally Hagood Sparks.
    Ms. Sparks was a member of Shamrock Evangelical Methodist Church, where she was a former Sunday School Teacher of the Senior Adults, member of the Tops Club #109 and enjoyed imitating Minnie Pearl at nursing homes, senior citizens centers, churches and schools.
    Survivors include a daughter, Betty Leigh McCormick of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren;
and brother, John W. Sparks of Greensboro.
    She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Frank Leigh; daughters, Doris Leigh Davis and Helen Leigh Summers; four sisters and three brothers.
    The funeral service will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at 4 p.m. in the Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Jimmy Burks with interment to follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. prior to the service. At other times the family will be at the daughter’s home, Betty McCormick.
