Son of the late Jacob Alton and Lucille Trogdon Hinton.
Husband of the late Sandra Hudgins Hinton, and Jean Hinton, who survives.
He is also survived by siblings Monte H. Tickle, Mary T. Hinton, Joe Hinton, and Jimmy Hinton, and was preceded in death by his brother Hal, and sister Hazel.
Two children survive; daughter Sandy, and son Doug; as well as several grandchildren, and two precious pet dogs.
George once served as a paratrooper in the US Army's 82nd airborne division at Fort Bragg, worked as a barber with his brother, Hal, at City Barber Shop in Gibsonville, and retired from P. Lorillard Tobacco Co. after 30 years of employment. 470, George Douglas Hinton
