Edna Shoffner Shoe


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Edna Shoffner Shoe, 89, formerly of Burlington, died at GrayBrier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Trinity, on Friday, May 14, 2010.
    A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late C. Elmo Shoe and the daughter of Robert Saunders Shoffner and Joy Coble Shoffner, both deceased. She was a former employee of Staley Hosiery Mill. Edna was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was involved with the Adult Sunday School Class and a member of the Social Ministry Committee.
    Survivors include a daughter, Joan Wilson and husband ErnestofAsheboro;ason,Craig Shoffner Shoe and wife Linda of Burlington; three grandchildren, Stephanie Shoe, Joy Klenke and Jeremy Shelton; five step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
    She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
    The funeral service will be conducted at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church on Monday, May 17, 2010, at 1 p.m. by the Rev. Nathan Hooks and the Rev. Robert Shoffner. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Funeral and Cremation Service in Burlington on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. Other times they will be at the residence of her son, Craig Shoe, 4221 Kimesville Road, Burlington, N.C.
    In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 2719 Bellemont Alamance Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
