Mrs. Dovie Violet Barber Clapp
JULIAN — Mrs. Dovie Violet Barber Clapp , 93, formerly of Holts Store Road, died on Monday, December 24, 2007, at Serenity Care in Greensboro.
She was born in Alamance County, daughter of the late Rudy Russell and Annie Ingle Barber and was married for 61 years to the late Roy Everett Clapp who died in 1992.
She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Hope United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Annie Lee and Hobert Apple of Julian, Peggy Darnell and Jimmy May of Whitsett, and Brenda Kay and Melvin Hutchens of Gibsonville; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth Alvin and Martha Clapp of Julian; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and three greatgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; son, Edward Clapp ; grandson, Eddie Dwayne Clapp ; sisters, Bessie Clapp , Evelyn Andrews, Thelma Rice and Lavonna Huggins; and brothers, Ted, Raymond and Garland Barber .
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2007, at Mt. Hope United Church of Christ by the Rev. Lloyd Spencer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory.
