B. Evelyn Andrews
GIBSONVILLE — Mrs. B. Evelyn Andrews , 89, of 274 Brightwood Church Road, Gibsonville, died at Alamance Regional Medical Center on Monday, September 3, 2007 at 5:15 p.m.
A native of Alamance County, she was the wife of the late J.V. Andrews Sr. and the daughter of Rudy Russell Barber and Annie Ingle Barber, both deceased.
She was the last surviving Charter Member of Brightwood Christian Church and a member of the Brightwood Keenagers.
Survivors include two daughters, Clara A. Handy and husband, Robert, of Gibsonville and Virginia A. Cook of Haw River; one son, Julius V. Andrews Jr. and wife, Catherine, of Gibsonville; one sister, Dovie Clapp of Julian; nine grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one stepgrandson; and one great-stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters; three brothers; and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be conducted at Brightwood Christian Church on Thursday, September 6, 2007 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Bruce Church and the Rev. Don Lyerly. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.
The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence of the son, Julius V. Andrews Jr., 6733 Fernway Road, Gibsonville, N.C.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brightwood Christian Church, 300 Brightwood Church Road, Gibsonville, N.C. 27249.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Alamance Regional Medical Center and Dr. John Johnston for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Andrews .
