Bonnie Harmon
1948 - 2025
Bonnie Harmon, 77, of Burlington, NC, passed away Thursday, October 30, 2025, at 3HC Crystal Coast Hospice House in Morehead City, NC. Bonnie was a native of Burlington and was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur (Sonny) Judson Harmon, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Paul Roscoe Smith and Ruth Margaret Isley Smith. Bonnie was a member of Brick Reformed Church in Burlington, NC.
Aside from being unabashedly considered the best Mom ever(!), Bonnie spent most of her professional career in education, serving various roles in elementary classrooms for Alamance-Burlington School System. Upon her first retirement, Bonnie went on to become a determined driving force behind the scenes of the family business, Syntech of Burlington, Inc. There was nobody better suited to keep her two boys in check as the company continued to grow and prosper.
Bonnie was perhaps small in stature, but she had a giant heart and maintained a kind and loving approach to life, even to the very end. It was amazing to witness such a welcoming spirit toward everyone she encountered, always remembering each individual by name.
Surviving is her one son, Brad Harmon, of Cape Carteret, NC. Also surviving is her brother, Paul Wayne Smith (Gloria), of Emerald Isle, NC; niece Heather Stover, and two great nieces, Addison and Brianna, of Cary, NC; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins in both extended families.
The family would like to especially thank all the incredible nurses and doctors they encountered at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City over the last several months. Further, they would also like to thank the nursing students from Carteret Community College and the compassionate team at 3HC Crystal Coast Hospice House.
The family will receive visitors wishing to pay their last respects on Saturday, November 15th, at Brick Reformed Church in Burlington, NC, at Noon. Lunch will be provided by the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alamance Community College Foundation, PO Box 8000, Graham, NC 27253; Brick Reformed Church, 3699 Brick Church Rd., Burlington, NC 27215; or to the 3HC Crystal Coast Hospice House, PO Box 640, Newport, NC 28570.
