Alfred David Lassiter, Jr.
   BURLINGTON — Mr. Alfred David Lassiter, Jr., 91, of Burlington died at his residence on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 11:20 p.m. following one year of failing health.

   A native of Johnston County, NC, he was the husband of the late Margaret Lindley Lassiter and the son of Alfred David Lassiter, Sr. and Swannie King Lassiter, both deceased. He was a graduate of Pleasant Grove High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army-Air Force serving during World War II. Alfred retired from Western Electric. He was a charter member of Zion Christian Church where he served as a deacon. He was also a member of the Alamance County Cattlemen’s Association and served on the Burlington City Board of Adjustments for over 20 years.

   Survivors include a daughter, Linda Lassiter Mann (Craig Yarborough) of Burlington; son, David V. Lassiter, Sr. (Janet) of Burlington; four grandchildren, David V. Lassiter, Jr. (Stephanie), Tina Lassiter Isley (Nick), Tonya Mann (Debra Welch) and Gary Mann (Wendy); fi ve greatgrandchildren, Ashton Isley, Gage Isley, Noah Mann, Jadyn Mann and Dawson Lassiter; two brothers, Currie Lee Lassiter (Bessie) of Burlington and Hulon Lassiter; two sisters, Betty Lou Cranford of Burlington and Carolyn Greer (Owen) of Summerville, SC; two sisters-inlaw, Olevia Lassiter and Yvonne Lassiter; and his special friend, Irene Walker.

   He was preceded in death by two brothers, John Lassiter and Hal Lassiter and four sisters, Christine Rudd, Matty Mae Self, Lois Porter and Mary Bowman.

   The funeral service will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Monday, January 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. by the Rev. George M. “Jack” Phillips with the family receiving friends from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alamance Memorial Park. Other times, the family will be at the residence.

   In lieu of fl owers, memorials may be made to Zion Christian Church, 2262 Burch Bridge Road, Burlington, NC 27217 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 918 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, NC 27215.
