Alvis Franklin King Sr.
BURLINGTON — Alvis Franklin King Sr., 87, of 100 Wade Coble Drive, died Friday, June 24, 2005, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Born in Caswell County, he was the husband of Margaret Blalock King , who survives, and the son of the late James Will and Minnie Oakley King . He was retired from Burlington Industries and was also a farmer. He was a member of Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church, and a member of the Southern Caswell Ruitan Club.
Survivors other than his wife of the home include daughters, Patricia (Owen) Wilkins and Barbara Gregory, all of Burlington, and Mary (Melvin) Butler of Reidsville; a son, Alvis F. (JoAnn) King Jr. of Burlington; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dollie Mae Garrison of Yanceyville and Mamie Sue Harris of Mebane; and brothers, Joseph King , Banks King , and Billy King , all of Burlington.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Powell; and brothers, Wilson King , Walter King , and Jim Henry King .
The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2005, at Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Wallis Smith. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at McClure Funeral Home in Graham from 6 to 8 this evening, and at other times at the residence of Patricia and Owen Wilkins, 10486 N.C. 62 South, Burlington.
