Nina McKinney Cale

BURLINGTON - It is with great sadness that the family of Nina McKinney Cale announce her sudden and unexpected passing on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at her home.
Nina was born in Burlington in June 1944 the daughter of Samuel Dewey McKinney and Viola Mace Byrd McKinney. She lived in Burlington until she married and moved to Yorktown Virginia for 30+ years. She returned home to Burlington when her husband retired 14 years ago. She is survived by her husband and best friend of almost 55 years, David B Cale, her son, David L Cale (Dee-Dee) and daughter, Lisa Cale Durizch (John) , grandchildren, Ben, Cece, Sam and Martha and her brother Samuel McKinney and sisters-in-law Susan Rascoe, Jessie McKinney and Alma McKinney. She will also be missed by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

Nina was a nurse for many years and an active member of Bethel Christian Church in Burlington. She enjoyed crocheting and baking for her family and friends. Nina never met a stranger and she will be remembered fondly for her loyalty, compassion and her humor.
Nina was predeceased by her parents, brothers, James Allen McKinney, Aubrey McKinney, William McKinney and Sylvester McKinney and a sister Betty McKinney Foster.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bethel Christian Church at 595 Baynes Road, Burlington, NC 27217 at 2 pm officiated by Reverend Barry Lane. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance - Caswell County at
