GRAHAM — Mr. J. Fern Edwards, 94, a resident of Springview Assisted Living in Burlington, went home to be with his Lord, Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Edwards was a native of Alamance County. He was the husband of the late Jeanette Huffman Edwards and the son of the late Eulie Edwards and the late Louella Isley Edwards.
He was retired from Kayser Roth Hosiery and was a member of Andrews Memorial Baptist Church in Graham.
Mr. Edwards was a loving father and grandfather who is survived by his two daughters, Ms. Debbie E. Mata of Greensboro, and Ms. Susie Edwards of Burlington; his son, Darwin F. Edwards and his wife, Debbie, of Graham; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, two sisters and six brothers.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Rich and Thompson Funeral Home and Crematory in Graham. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Rich and Thompson Chapel. Officiating will be the Rev. Jack Lemons and the Rev. Dr. Tommy Willis. Burial will be in Graham Memorial Park. The family will return to the Edwards homeplace in Alamance after the service to receive friends.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
