Obituary Online notes for Dr. Earl Victor PATTERSON III
Earl Victor "Pat" Patterson, III, DDS passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
He was born in Baton Rouge on February 11, 1947.
He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and Louisiana State University, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans. Following this, he completed a post-doctoral residency in periodontics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Professional memberships included the Southwest Society of Periodontics, American Academy of Periodontology, Sixth District Dental Association and Louisiana and American Dental Associations. He was also a member of the C. Edmond Kells Dental Honor Society, Delta Sigma Delta professional dental fraternity, Baton Rouge Rotary Club and Baton Rouge Roundtable. He was engaged in the practice of Periodontal Surgery here in Baton Rouge for 35 years. Pat was an avid outdoorsman and accomplished athlete who completed many marathons (including Boston), but he most enjoyed the revelry and camaraderie associated with these activities. He was also a barbeque aficionado, self-proclaimed "beach bum" in his early years, and North Carolina Tar Heel at heart. In later years, he became a hybrid Aggie by virtue of both of his sons graduating from Texas A&M University. As he grew older, his most engaging conversations were at "open-line Friday" at Maxwell's Market where Pat's table was reserved.
He was the son of the late Earl Victor Patterson, Jr. and Frances Lenhard Patterson.
Family and friends are invited to funeral services at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Saturday September 27, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Visitation is at 9:30 AM. Interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
