Robert "Bob" Lee Clapp Jr.
October 13, 1940 ~ April 6, 2024 (age 83)

Robert Lee "Bob" Clapp Jr, 83, of Charlotte, passed away peacefully on the morning of Saturday, April 6, 2024. A native of Graham, NC, he was the son of the late Mary Norine Sharpe Clapp and the late Robert Lee Clapp Sr.

Bob graduated from Graham High School in 1959, his senior yearbook quote: "A good athlete, a good sport, a gentleman - 'nuff said.” And, this small quote selected for him all those years ago truly captures him. He had a strong love and loyalty to his family, a wicked sense of humor. He was not one to rattle off his accomplishments, though there are many. Bob was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from the University of North Carolina with a degree in Business Administration. He spent a lifetime pulling for his beloved Tarheels from his seats at the "Dean Dome" and Keenan Stadium. And, he was a lifelong athlete himself, a star football player in high school and an avid golfer as an adult. He was proud to have been a founding and career-long partner in the successful utility contracting company, WM Paris and Associates. He treasured the personal and business relationships he made within the company and throughout the industry.

But, even with his personal and professional successes, nothing in this world brought him greater joy than his grandchildren. He was at every basketball game and football game, every play and musical, every birthday dinner and holiday celebration, and every award ceremony and graduation until his body just could not do it any longer. He was very proud of Leah, Ethan and Bella Joy and their lives and accomplishments. He was a brilliant, steady, and significant influence in their lives.

He is survived by his son Robert Heenan Clapp of Graham, NC, his daughter Laura Clapp Busch and her husband Frank of Winston-Salem NC, three grandchildren, Leah Jane Mell-Carrington of Las Vegas, Nevada, Thomas Ethan Mell of Graham, NC, Bella Joy Busch of Winston-Salem, NC, and his sister Polly Parker of Graham, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sisters, Rita Clapp Page and June "Bugs" Pittman. He will be very missed.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at 1:30 pm in the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Graham. The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow at Graham Memorial Park. 261, Robert "Bob" Lee Clapp Jr.
