Alberta  "Bertie" Johnson Whitt 


    BURLINGTON — Mrs. Alberta  "Bertie" Johnson Whitt , 85, of Burlington, died at her residence on Thursday, December 20, 2007.
    A native of Nash County, she was the wife of the late Jesse Franklin Whitt  and the daughter of Henry Johnson  and Olga Finch Johnson , both deceased. She retired from Collins and Aikman in Graham. She was a member of the Graham Nazarene Church.
    Survivors include a daughter, Jana Sue Welch of Gibsonville; a son, Ross Whitt  of Burlington; a brother, Dennis Johnson  and wife, Lollie, of Charlotte; five grandchildren, Shawn Welch and wife, Teresa, of Burlington, Kevin Welch of Gibsonville, Tracey Campbell and husband, David, of Cary, Nicole Cummings and husband, David, of Haw River, and Kathryn Whitt  of Burlington; two great-grandchildren, Holly Welch of Mebane and Zachary Welch of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
    She was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
    The funeral will be conducted at the Rich & Thompson Chapel in Burlington on Sunday, December 23, 2007 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert Sargeant. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery.
    The family will receive friends at the Rich & Thompson Mortuary in Burlington on Saturday from 6 until 8 p.m., and at other times they will be at the residence.
    Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Road, Burlington, N.C. 27215 or to SPCA (Animal Shelter), 215 Stone Quarry Road, Haw River, N.C. 27258.
