Leonard Mason Wiggington
BURLINGTON — Leonard Mason Wiggington , 59, of 2456 Ray Massey Trail, died at 10:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005, at his home after a year of failing health and a critical illness of two weeks.
He loved dearly his wife, children, nieces, nephews, and was held in high esteem by his friends. He loved to work in his garden and loved his farm. He was the manager of L.P. Gas Company and retired on Sept. 26, 2005 after 33 years of service. He attended Baptist Temple.
He served in Vietnam and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal 1st. Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Massey Wiggington ; a son Leonard Ray Wiggington of the home; a daughter, Tina W. Brown (Ronald) of Liberty; grandchildren, Jessica Raye Wiggington , Wesley Mason Wiggington , Daniel Lee Brown, and E. Dakota Brown; sisters, Hazel (Lacy) Overman of Ramseur, Marie (Bobby) Carden of Graham, and Linda Baize of Burlington; and brothers, Hughes Wigington of Burlington and Ray (Mary Jane) Wigington of Stoneville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Randolph Jefferson Wigington and Rosa Shough Wigington; and sisters, Katherine Wigington, Eva Lindley, Era "Brownie" Cantrell, Vera Penn, Virginia "Genny" Heffner, and Nancy "Cowboy" Skenes.
The funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2005, at the home by Dr. Don Carter, and David M. Carter. Burial will be in the family cemetery at the home.
The body may be viewed and the family will receive visitors at the home Friday until the funeral hour at 3 p.m.
