GREENSBORO One of God's very special children has left to go home to be with the Lord. Virginia "Jenny" B. Crowder, 93, passed away at her home Monday, June 4, 2018, with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Rick Marson, Rev. Ben Shepherd, and Rev. Ralph Eanes at 3 p.m., Friday, June 8, 2018. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Virginia was born on August 10, 1924, in Guilford County the daughter of William and Ethel Barber. She had been an active member of Rehobeth UMC since 1947. Virginia was a past member of Rehobeth's United Methodist Women, the Dittie Gray Circle, Rehobeth's Girl Scout leader for 15 years, and an avid fan of their softball team for over 40 years! She was a long time employee of Burlington Industries and later retired from Ciba-Geigy. She was remembered as a dedicated employee and great co-worker. Virginia was preceded in death by the love of her life, Rucker W. Crowder, her parents, William and Ethel Barber, brothers Layton Barber, Rev. Morris Barber, and Max Barber; and sister Edna Janet Barber; and many other family members. Surviving are her daughters Janet Funderburk and husband John Funderburk of Greensboro, and Kathie Justice and husband Richard "Dick" Justice of Moneta, Virginia; three granddaughters, Jenni Lynn Hudson and husband Brad, Jamie Hayes and husband Jake and Shannon Justice and husband Amir; two great-grandsons, Landon and Logan, and three great-granddaughters, Molly, Amia, and baby girl Hayes (due any day); two sisters, Marie Meador Zimmerman of Arkansas, and Carolyn Cook of Greensboro; two sisters-in-laws Leoma Barber and Edith Crowder; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. at Rehobeth United Methodist Church. The family would like to thank Rehobeth's church family for all their love and support, also Hospice Care of Greensboro for all their kindness and care, and her very dear friend and neighbor, Kaye Bowman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rehobeth United Methodist Church, to Children's Ministries, Family Life Center, and Building Maintenance Fund.
