Obituary Online notes for Otis Wright LOWE
Otis W. Lowe, 81, formerly of McLeansville, died Wednesday, April 15, 2008, at Carriage House Assisted Living, Greensboro.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, April 18, at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Mike Goode and Reverend Jim Allred. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Otis was born August 6, 1926, in Guilford County, to the late David William Lowe and Bertha Tate Lowe.
Otis served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Staff Sergeant, with the 106th Infantry, "Roaring Lions". He was involved with the fight at the Battle of the Bulge and received a Meritorious Citation. He was recalled during the Korean War. Mr. Lowe worked for McLeod Leather & Belting Company as an industrial sales engineer where he retired with 29 years. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church where he was chairman of the Staff Parish Committee for four years, active in Reid Bible Class for 27 years, Youth Counselor the "New Wineskins", active member with the XYZ Club and charter member of the McLeansville Lions Club. He was also involved with mission work with the Greensboro Urban Ministry.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Rebecca Huffines Lowe and two brothers, David W. Lowe, Jr. and James A. Lowe.
Mr. Lowe is survived by his three children, Rev. Vance W. Lowe, and wife, Cheryl of China Grove, N.C., Karen Sue Blaylock and husband, Thom of Wenatcahee, Wash., Rebecca Lynne Hilderbrand and husband, Jeremy of Stockbridge, Ga.; one sister, Elizabeth Lowe Summers of Greensboro; two brothers, Oscar K. Lowe, his twin brother of Jamestown, N.C., and Anderson L. Lowe of West End, N.C.; five grandchildren, Carey Lowe and husband, Ed Rongitsch, Jordan Lowe, Karoline Blaylock, Adam Blaylock, Ezra Kate Hilderbrand. 470, Otis W. Lowe
